Feeding Therapy
CCS Pediatric Therapy & Family Wellness provides feeding therapy for children with oral sensory needs, oral motor delays, and with picky eating preferences. Children who present with any of the following items may benefit from feeding therapy:
- Presents with watery eyes or running nose while eating or drinking
- Coughs after eating or drinking
- History of feeding difficulties
- History of negative eating experiences
- Oral structural differences (i.e. cleft palate, tongue-tie, high palate, overbite, underbite, crossbite, etc.)
- Food/liquid spills out of the lips while eating/drinking
- Lack of awareness of food on lips or face
- Does not use the tongue or upper lip to remove food from lips
- Teeth marks on straw after drinking
- Difficulty drinking from an open cup
- Refuses to eat foods
- Tantrums/behavior/stress during meals
- Diet is different than family’s diet
- Does not move food from tongue to molars
- Pockets food in cheeks
- Chewing takes longer than 30 seconds per bite
- Difficulty controlling mixed consistencies (i.e. soup with chunks, cereal and milk, etc.)
- Child is very particular about foods (i.e. brand, color, smell, taste, texture, etc.)
